Wow, Phil Steele's no. 1 Dark Horse to win the CF Championship- your Utah Utes.

It's on ESPN+ and is a subscription site, but you can read the first part if not a subscriber. He said his Dark Horse pick last year was Notre Dame and they went 12-0 and made the playoff. Let's hope he repeats and if so, the Utes don't tank like ND did. Go Utes!

The weird place down south made the national news today. I don't understand why any LBGQT person would want to go anywhere near that place.

“I knew the bishop as a wonderful guy, and he had seen one of my posts on social media about coming out,” Gee says. “He said, ‘I just want to let you know that God loves you so much. He would love you even if you robbed a bank or murdered someone.’ He compared my sexuality to someone committing murder."

22 years in the majors with a lifetime batting average of 0.289 and unfortunately he'll be remembered for the error of the ground ball to first in the sixth game of the World Series against the Mets.

Great interview last night on Talkin' Sports with new LB transfer Manny Bowen.

    by Red Don
    2019-04-08 11:01:19

Seems like a nice, well spoken kid with a great attitude. He said he visited for the Oregon game and after watching how fast Hansen and Barton closed in on the play and the quickness and relentless pursuit of the DL that he wanted to be a part of that. I really like him and think we got a good one, even if it is only for a year.

OC and a QB coach. Whitt surprised us with the TT selection and I'm hoping he does it again, rather than regressing to something "safe".

So, I read on the Utes FB site that we've offered a 4 star QB who's verbally committed to Penn St.

    by Red Don
    2018-12-14 21:32:54

He's from Oregon and his father's a coach for the Ducks. On 247 Sports it has
Penn St. - 97%; Utah - cool. No one seems to know anything else about him. 6'2" and change. Probably not worth getting too excited about but you never know.

For those touting that medical marijuana should be dispensed by a pharmacist, have you ever been to a marijuana dispensary?

    by Red Don
    2018-12-06 14:23:12

You don't just walk in and ask "for some marijuana". The choices are intimidating and numerous. This is just for some of the vape cartridges at the small dispensary near my home in Vegas. This doesn't include all of the herb choices and then the edibles, candy, cookies, and on and on.

They would have to more than double the size of the pharmacies and who's going to answer all of the questions regarding the product? You think your wait time is long now at the pharmacy? All this would do is make bartenders out of the pharmacists.

And because of the ridiculous federal classification of marijuana as a Schedule I, they deal only in cash. That will be fun for pharmacies continually explaining that to patients and having to deal with all of that cash.

A crazy idea meant to control, complicate and hopefully break the the process.

A 9-3 regular season, and now it's like we get two bowl games.

    by Red Don
    2018-11-29 12:37:43

It doesn't get much better than that. I agree with you other drunks, we can't afford to spot them 14 points and we have to stay out of our own way on kick receiving. Contain the edges on defense, slow down the run game, and keep the pressure on Browning.

We seemed to have fixed the illegal player downfield-thing on QB scrambles, so if we can eliminate the big-play killing mistakes and get a few turnovers, it could be win baby win!

    Go Utes!

And there it is. Utah beats BYU-P and drops one position in the USA Today's NCAA re-rank poll.

    by Red Don
    2018-11-27 11:25:29

It's a meaningless no-win situation game and should be dropped permanently. Utah will always need every break it can get to be competitive with the USC's of the world and certainly doesn't need this albatross around our neck.

COACH MENDENHALL: ".....It’s refreshing to not have to travel all across the country to play games that not many people maybe are interested in later in the year. Early in the year as an independent there is strong interest because people are willing to play. Later in the year when conference races begin, folks don’t line up to play BYU or travel to Provo."

We should never, ever be made to,play them the last game of the year.

Every time I see Frank Dolce on Talking Sports he seems like a bigger tool.

    by Red Don
    2018-08-29 12:08:51

Last night, he's back on his Utah should revert to it's "three yards and a cloud of dust " offense with an occasional pass to "keep them honest", and "be more like Stanford." The reasoning is, "Utah doesn't have the personnel to have a pass-first offense that Troy Taylor wants."

While our WR's are high on talent and low on experience, with what we have, including Covey's return, we indeed have the personnel for a very good passing game. I keep reading from a lot of critics that Huntley's primarily a run-first QB. However, I think this year will prove that he's a very good passer. Go Utes!

I didn't see it mentioned, but Sacha Baron Cohen got Roy Moore with his "Israeli built Sexual Predator Detector".

    by Red Don
    2018-07-30 17:23:52

It's predicated on the "fact" that sexual predators secrete a hormone at three times the normal rate and his "detector" will identify it. Of course it goes off with Moore. Cohen says, "I know you're not a predator, there must be something wrong with it." He tries it on an assistant and, nothing. Waves it over Moore and it goes off again. Moore gets all defensive, says there must be something wrong with it, that he's never been accused of being a predator, etc. and leaves. It's pretty funny if you haven't seen it.

OK, here's the possible explanation of the offensive meltdown in Provo the past two years, despite having Ty "freaking" Detmer as OC.

    by Red Don
    2018-07-30 17:12:28

    Per CooterBoard:

Could it be Ty was too great of a football mind for today’s college game?

"Ty was used to working with NFL OCs and other QB greats like Brett Favre. This was after 4 years with two of the greatest offensive minds in the history of college football with LaVell and Norm Chow.

My football IQ isn’t nearly high enough to know what happened or what went wrong. But is it possible it was like putting a college professor with a PhD who taught grad students for years and plopping him down with high school kids who of course might struggle to figure out the advanced concepts that came easy and natural to the professor?"

Yeah, that's what it was. The comedy just writes itself down there.
