If it’s any consolation, my 2018 new car purchases, if I had to buy those cars today, would be over $5,000 more than what I paid for them last year.

I bought two brand new hybrid vehicles last year to replace my older gas guzzlers. My wife’s SUV’s MSRP was 30,000. My full-sized sedan was $25,000. The same equipped cars fo this year are $36,000 and $30,000 respectively. Both were foreign company cars built in the US. (Toyota and Honda)

The US option for her car didn’t exist until 2019. Mine had an American equivalent that went out of production at the end of last year. Both 2019 “American equivalents” are/were built in Mexico. (Ford - Chevy and Chrysler had no options)

Who gets to pay for this uncertainty? We do.
