More to do with the fact that Hockey is a club team. Only actual sports sponsored by the U and participating in the NCAA get to use the D & F.

When we finally wise up and put out men and women's hockey teams under the official hand of the athletic dept, they can then wear the logo.

Same issue lacrosse had before this season.

GUBA icon NEW: I am actually quite surprised that hockey was able to use that logo at all. Club Swim tried to get approval to use it for Nationals team gear but were denied. Club Swim mostly uses the Interlocking U's logo on their gear. It is interesting to note
