When I was a senior in high school I purchase Gris-Gris...

Dr. John’s debut. I liked the cover because it was strange. The music crept out of my super cheap Sears record player and filled my room with the strangest music I had ever heard. To this day, that record is a favorite having burned a furrow in my brain. Like you, I loved the man who led me to Dave Bartholomew and Professor Longhair. I even picked up a late ‘60s lp he produced for a girl-woman trio named the Cake simply because I knew who Mac Rebennack really was.
