I don't, but the alternative is even worse.

Do I believe that the government is looking out for my best interest 100% of the time? Of course not. Do I think executives at mega corporations are interested in anything other than keeping their shareholders happy? LOL.

There seems to be this idea that anybody for socialized healthcare wants everything managed by government, as if we're all eager to hand over unconditional power. I think most of us recognize the inefficiencies, and want something done about that. This would include repealing certain regulations that either had an adverse effect, or were pushed through for the benefit of the powers that be. It also means there needs to be some fundamental changes in how we govern, and limiting the influence of corporate interests that only aim to further corrupt an already vulnerable system.

Reading through tweets from the professor you cited in another post gives me some clarity on how you tick, as he speaks very similarly to you (or you to him?). Some of his followers have terrible logic when addressing certain claims, and to his credit he corrects them (often partially), but many of his vague responses seem like carefully crafted attempts to lure others into saying something he can contort.

He also seems to think his views are the only right ones, and the rest of us are foolishly falling into traps laid by our government. History is one big social experiment, and to date, nobody has nailed it. While it's true that we often repeat mistakes that we should have learned from, much of what we do is a tweak of something that nearly worked out, or worked for some time before turning. There is not a man alive that has all the answers, or can predict the future, so I have to laugh when people purport to have everything figured out.

This is especially true with regard to economics. It reminds me of christianity. There are multiple schools of thought in economics, like there are many christian denominations, and each one of them believe they are the bearer of truth. We all put our best foot forward, but at the end of the day each of us is subject to unpredictable behavior, and dubious conditions where nothing is ever fully within our control.
