I don't think so.

I don't think it is money or a wish to keep the population growing. If that were true they would favor undocumented immigrants as a source of an inexpensive manual labor underclass.

I think the anti-abortion fringe are motivated by their fanatic religiosity which feeds their need for control over other people. Fanatics have a common instinct to exercise power over others. Islam is burdened by the Taliban, extreme Shia mullahs, the Wahabis, and others. Opus Dei, the Crusaders and fanatical Southern Baptists burden Christianity.

If the fanatic Southern Baptists didn't have abortion to rally around, it would be something else. It used to be Jim Crow segregation.

If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny to watch the political parasites wrap themselves in the anti-abortion flag. Does anyone really believe trump's anti-abortion position is anything other than pandering? The man doesn't have a single strongly held belief other than self aggrandizement. But the true fanatics look the other way and pretend he is one of them and he will say anything to keep them obedient and rabid.
