I miss the good old days where you announced by signing a letter in your HS coach's office, and he faxed it to the university you choose.

I've never understood the fixation on recruiting classes and even less on these elaborate announcements these kids make. And I'm not just talking about the idiots who announce and make a big production even if they were a) never actually recruited or b) whoops, forgot to tell the coach their decision first. Not to mention the number of these kids that don't end up playing that that school for one reason or another.

I love it when something screws up, like the ones above, or the mom who started crying when her son chose the "wrong" school or the dad who announced for his son, only for the son to walk back the announcement and chose a different school. It's like a trashy soap opera or reality show, perfect for the "LOOK AT ME" generation that lives their life as if it's a popularity contest based on screen views and "likes".
