So, I'll ask again, if Trump declares a national emergency, will that make it so we can avoid a shutdown?

Let him declare his "emergency" (while ignoring actual emergencies like climate change, but that is a discussion for another day). Then they can fight it through the courts but hopefully meanwhile the government will be open. It costs way too much to deal with his tantrums.

Just saw that the Dems are proposing 1000 new customs officers, new tech to scan for drugs and expanding air and marine operations. So, they are obviously for border security even if they don't want a wall. But I expect that won't matter to Trump. So let him declare his "emergency" as long as it keeps government open. The ironic thing is that is will open up a Pandora's Box that will probably be used by Dems in the future and then the right wingers will howl.
