Oh man. Do you know the history of San Francisco? It's always been a wild and dangerous place. And drugs? Hell they practically invented them there in the 60's.

Haight Ashbury now is just a kind of run-down trying-to-gentrify part of the city. In the 60's it was the drug capital of the United States.
In the 1800's San Francisco was a great place to get robbed or even murdered. Gold rushes tend to make places a little wild, y'know?
Not scared-like some I could mention-I have walked the streets, rode BART and busses and just enjoyed the views and the people and the diversity. I've gone there 2-3 times a year since 2015 when my son moved there to work and attend U of SF.
If anything I think SF is cleaner and safer than when I lived there in the 80's. I mean, it's been quite a while since former policeman Dan White murdered Harvey Milk in cold blood in city hall. I lived there on the day that happened.
