o NEW: if I were a federal employee that was furloughed or being "forced to work without pay" I'd be pissed. I suppose I would do what some of them are doing and working other jobs to pay bills etc.

UTE BC icon NEW: That was a dumb promise. It doesn’t however negate the NEED for the wall and the consequences that come from playing politics with it. (nm)

Newbomb Turk icon NEW: Yes it as a dumb promise. But he made it so I'm holding him to it.

UTE BC icon NEW: I doubt Trump breaking that promise influenced your vote. That said, I guess you feel the same about Schumer, Obama and Hillary who all called for a wall and now are against it. Broken promises are the hallmark of American politics.

Newbomb Turk icon NEW: None of those are president now. Try to stay in the present. Your dear leader is in office. Own it. (nm)

UTE BC icon NEW: I brought them up to prove to you that no President has met your threshold of not breaking a promise.

Newbomb Turk icon NEW: Okay, for the last time. Dems are NOT against border security. They just believe that there are much better ways than a wall. I agree with them. You agree with Trump. (nm)

UTE BC icon NEW: The Dems are not for border security. They can’t even define their policy or how to implement one. (short)

Newbomb Turk icon NEW: More agents. Limited "fencing". Drones. And probably most importantly, e-verifying overstayed visas (that's how most of the illegals get here). Just not a 2000 mile wall.

UTE BC icon NEW: I don’t disagree. In the meantime I would suggest people look to the private sector for jobs. They are abundant now and don’t carry these risks. (nm)

o NEW: RE: Private sector jobs also don't provide the job security that federal government jobs provide, nor the health benefits, the retirement benefits, etc. I'm lucky enough to work for one of the agencies that is not shut down. But I agree with others,

o NEW: ideally all 800,000 walk of the job. TSA shuts down, airports shut down, commerce comes to a grinding halt. lets say they all do that and find other jobs then when the government decides to reopen you've either got to rehire them all or train 800K
