Mo money mo problems

The Pac12 is a problem in recruiting. Utah would've landed both Yoeli Childs and Zach Wilson if it weren't for the Pac12.

Yes Utah probably landed Jaylen Johnson, Donnie Tillman and others from being in the Pac12 but they're also missing out with sights set on greener pastures.

Then there is the issue with talented kids who don't want to compete with greater talent or expected to be a star. Devon Daniels, Brekkott Chapman, Makol Mawien, etc...

Utah is in the Pac12 but there are 11 other teams who've been recruiting at this level for many decades. Utah has a lot to learn.

The Thrill icon NEW: They didn't pursue Childs because of Jayce and didn't pursue Wilson because of Tuttle.

SkinyUte icon NEW: I get that, but am failing to see why that’s “because of the Pac 12”. Just sounds like major recruiting misses to me. (nm)

The Thrill icon NEW: Because of the Pac12 Utah is looking at kids they normally wouldn't. If they don't land them and overlook a surefire local kid, that's a byproduct of the Pac12.

Utahraptor icon NEW: As I recall the recruiting book on Childs was that he was a 6' 6" tweener, with a poor body, and no outside shot.

Red Don icon NEW: Exactly; I remember the assessments on him not being that remarkable.

o NEW: Utah is just beginning to land very talented players. Childs was a big miss. Wilson would've been a Ute, no thanks to Tuttle. But at the same time, Utah got players like Chase Hansen, Brittain Covey, Jake Murphy, etc. It goes both ways. (nm)

The Thrill icon NEW: Yes, and I think it goes in favor of Pac12 recruiting more often, but it's a fact Utah is not landing the best talent they're in front of and it's because of looking past them. (nm)
