Exactly and the most successful radio people are ones who push peoples' buttons. Especially sports radio it seems.

If a guy gets on the air and presents a measured take outlining the pluses and minuses of some sports event, sadly, people will tune out.

Some guy makes a bombastic statement calling out popular coaches or players and the phones light up and an hour of heated responses follow that keeps listeners tuned in.

Its the same where I live. There is a particularly grating person on in the afternoons (when normally I'm not listening anyway) but people talk about what stupid/crazy/outrageous/egotistical things he said even when he's not on.
