Last night I was hitting balls over at Four Lakes when a guy who I thought was Coach Shah came up and started hitting next to me. I had met him when I got paired up with him at random over at River Oaks a few years ago, but I wasn't sure it was him and didn't ask. (My wife told me I was a chicken. Probably so.)

So today I'm down at River Oaks again and ready to start the back. I'd paired up with a nice, older couple from Florida mid-way through the front because we were going to be stuck behind a slow group anyway. Low and behold, the same gentlemen from the driving range last night is waiting at #10 behind the group we were going to be stuck behind, so we asked him if he'd like to join us. He gladly accepted. So I said, "Weren't you at Four Lakes hitting balls last night?" He looked surprised and said yes, and then recognized me as the guy next to him then. Then intros went around and he confirmed he was, indeed, Coach Shah and I laughed. Told him we'd met at River Oaks a couple of years back and promised him I wasn't stalking him. (In reality, in both cases I was there first, so he'd have been stalking me.)

I've got to say he can really smack the ball. He shot an even 35 on the back playing from the black tees. Must be nice to be a real athlete. Finally, he's an extremely nice guy. We didn't talk much football aside from my joking that he only had 2 1/2 weeks before he's too busy for golf. Oh, and he somehow managed to snag cart #33, which I pointed out as being an interesting coincidence.

Small world.
