I keep my basketball ticket in my glove box and separate it when I park my ride. I don't take anything else into the game with me

I watched this happen at the football game last week and they simply tore the ticket for the guy in front of us.

So my question is are there two different protocols? If so why?

Is it to prevent ticket fraud? Is it to make it easier for the university?

It "worked out" because someone with more experience than her was there. If it had been up to her I would have missed at least the first five minutes of the game by the time I walked from the practice facility to the ticket office and stood inline to speak with someone.

Point is should a missing/damaged bar code be a reason to make things difficult for fans? Shouldn't all their gate agents be educated about what to do?
Maybe I should be able to show my Crimson club card to prove it's me rather than going through what happened. Last night
