O-Line Stats

First post from a long-time reader. All year the O-line play has been abysmal. Here are some numbers from Silverzweig on Twitter:

Utah is allowing TFLs on 26.8% of run plays- only 26 teams are worse.
Utah is allowing sacks on 10.6% of dropbacks- only 34 teams are worse.

With that kind of a performance, it is difficult to accurately judge the efficacy of the new offense with any accuracy. Harding has his work cut out for him if we're going to see improvement next year.

o NEW: I wonder how much of that is change in the offense.

Puget Ute icon NEW: It really shouldn't be that huge of a change. Travis Wilson was an RPO QB, and we only had a few linemen downfield calls per year (whereas we have 3-5 per game now).

alUmnUs icon NEW: With those kind of stats it is actually very easy to judge the efficacy of the new offense:

Puget Ute icon NEW: I like Joe's follow up. Things are actually very bright, despite the bad line play.

alUmnUs icon NEW: Sort of agree. It feels like, as a unit, the OL has been a work in progress since 2012.

Puget Ute icon NEW: Our secondary has improved every year, and the improvement is turbocharged since Sharieff Shah started coaching.

pangloss icon NEW: I wonder if the O-line skills & physical body type is different for TT's offence - assuming there is a 'type'. (nm)
