  • Football: Utah football success compared to BYU, 1994-2014 - Over the last 12 years, Utah has beaten BYU as many times as Utah has beaten Utah State: 9-3 against the Cougars; 9-1 against the Aggies. Nice company to be in BYU. - Over the last 3 years, Utah has...

  • Rivalry: It is shocking just how stupid they can be. Utah isn't the school having a difficult time filling out a schedule. Utah isn't the school being forced to accept 2-for-1s and 1-and-dones from P5 teams. Utah isn't the school being forced to schedule FCS teams in November. Utah isn't the school that just caved to Utah State by giving them home-and-homes instead of the prior 3-for-1s and 2-for-1s the Aggies were giving BYU befo...

  • Basketball: Being out of state I haven't been to a home game in quite a while. I think this paragraph by Coach K comes across very very well. “I got choked up," head coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "It was powerful. That student section was something I've daydreamed about since seeing some of our football crowds. They're the heartbeat. Everyone who shows up. When you have a crowd like that it gives you something. I just want to thank every...

  • Basketball: Utah 81, BYU 64: What an enjoyable evening Have to credit the crowd (especially the students). The last few visits the Zoobs have taken the building over and 2 years ago there was more blue than red in the student section. Even more disheartening than losing decisively to BYU was listening to the visiting fans completely drown out the home fans and feeling like I was cheering for the road team. Last night the MUSS and rest of the crowd ...

  • Football: The Curse of Max Hall; or, How He Began the End of the Rivalry Ever since Max Hall unleashed his hate filled tirade of lies about Utah back in November 2009, BYU has been cursed. Since November 2009 . . . - BYU landed the #1 QB recruit in the nation only to run him out of town. - The Pac-12 invited Utah & Colorado. - BYU's plan to join the WAC blew up in their face. - Harvey Unga misses his senior season due to honor code violation. - BYU gets ...

  • Rivalry: Why we don't care if TDS fans downplay our PAC-12 tournament win, or any Utah wins, in any sport According to ESPN's BPI rankings USC is 75 spots ahead of San Diego. They're green with jealousy. Everything to them is a pissing match with us and I mean everything. TDS sports is no world beater either right now and they have a very, very low ceiling to boot. Their football team has WAC stocking stuffer games and will never make a BCS game while their...

  • Football: Utah will win the Rose Bowl, and what it means to be a Utah fan Not if, but when. Call me delusional, crazy, or drinking the Ute Kool-Aid, but it will happen at UTAH. Why I believe. Since we're on a nostalgic road trip with everyone goin, "Man, I remember when...", let's go back to November 18, 1989. BYU 70 - Utah 31. It was 49-7 at the half, 63-10 in the 3rd quarter, BYU put up 750 yards of offense, Detmer broke Bernie Kosar's TD passes for a Freshman and So...

No offense to Jim Fassell. No slight to Ron McBride. But Rick Majerus and Utah Basketball is why I am UTAH MAN. • Basketball: My thoughts on Rick Been trying to gather my thoughts on my best memories of Rick and of course a lot of things I remember have been mentioned already. Thought I would start with things that not a lot of people have commented on yet. One thing I greatly appreciated about him is he never made excuses or tried to blame outside influences after a loss and I remember a few incidents in particular. One was in the NIT semi-...

  • Basketball: Coach Majerus Just wanted to send this post out into the universe hoping that Coach would somehow read it Thank you Coach for all the amazing times I had watching you and your kids play basketball. Ute basketball was the bread-and-butter of the university when I was there, and when I was growing up. I will never forget 1998 and the amazing journey through the tournament to the final four in San Antonio. It was without a doubt in my...

  • Football: 9 game vs 8 game conference schedule: best case scenario for the PAC-12 Let's look at how different the PAC-12 could have been if there was only an 8 game schedule: Stanford - good chance their record doesn't change. That being said, if they don't play Arizona the week before (and go to overtime) but instead play Wyoming, how would that have affected the ND game? If Stanford beats ND, then they are now with only one loss and in p...

  • Football: Poorly Coached : What I Think I Saw. Okay, season's over and I've read a lot about our "poor coaching this" and "poor coaching that" as it relates to our losses. Well, I'm not a football expert and have never coached a D1 game in my life, so I don't really have any qualifications as to determine the type of "coaching" that our guys have received. So, I guess I will leave that "poor coaching" evaluation to the rest of the former D-1 coa...

He came home and wanted to know why some of his friends were so mean to him when their team lost. • Football: Utah 24, BYU 21: My stars 1. defensive coaches for changing the defense from the traditional 4-3 to a 3 man front. I thought it put our best defensive personnel in the game and they responded big time. Star was so much better last night then in any game last year. He ran down plays from sideline to sideline. We need to get the same kind of performance and effort from the Krugers every game. They were all monsters. I loved the decision to put Boo ...

  • Football: I Am Eating Crow - The Aggies Kicked Our Asses 1. Congratulations to the Aggies. Gary Anderson and crew spanked our pompous asses all the way back to Salt Lake City. I was wrong, Gary's got some talented kids playing in Logan and their swagger is amazing. We should not take these guys lightly next year and I predict that they'll take the WAC this year - and possibly more. 2. Special Teams needs to get their collective heads out of t...

  • Football: Why we don't need to play USU and/or BYU on equal terms? Many Utah fans "love" the USU and BYU rivalry games, but me, I would be fine not to continue them or play them on equal terms, here are my reasons. 1. We already play a tough schedule: Why play two super fired up teams in early September, when you already have a full plate of super fired up teams to play the rest of the season? Our guys will have to ramp up their intensity in ...

  • Football: Whittingham today at The Country Club Whittingham, Johnson and Wynn spoke at the CC today. Very good event with twice the crowd as years past. Couple of tidbits: Wynn got a haircut. For all those idiot fans down south who were making fun of him for his long hair he grew it out for his grandma who passed away of cancer. He was able to donate to the Locks for Cancer. Great kid with his degree in economics in hand. Loves having John Wh...

  • Football: Throw up your "U" Last year, shortly before football season, I posted a picture of myself throwing up my "U" with the Swiss Matterhorn centered in the background. This led others to posting pictures of themselves throwing up their "U" in other places. I recall someone throwing up their "U" in front of the Eiffel Tower and another on the Great Wall of China. This year I thought I would attempt to maintain the tradition by postin...

All it took was for ONE well-placed comment by our coach to make an entire group of people to have a collective mental and psyche meltdown. • Rivalry: I have a story Once upon a time, there was a football fan and he was the biggest, badest football fan around. Well one day during the College National Championship game, he had a heart attack and died. He didn't see any light or friends or any loved ones, but he did see someone walking towards him. A red faced man with horns said welcome John you are in football hell, and John said what, how can I be in football hell? Satan answered...

Jordan's motion, as has been reported, looks much better. Had a beautiful completion down the east sideline on the first drive to Murph. Thing of beauty. Drove right diwn and scored. Wilson then had his shot and on about the 4th play, McGill had a pick 6. Wilson...

  • Rivalry: I haven't weighed in because I've been driving across the US, so... I think it would be a shame to discontinue the Holy War. Every game in the last twenty years, outside of last year and our BCS runs, have been a coin flip. It's damn good football. I've seen posts about no one outside of Utah caring. No one cares about any rivalry game unless there are national implications between ranked teams. Do people in NYC rearran...

  • Rivalry: Many BYU Fans Are Racist. If there is anything that I've learned in the last two days (that I suspected) is that many BYU fans are racist. Not concealed, nor unintentional, but overtly racist. I haven't seen or heard so much gross statements of racism from many from a suppposed "Christian" fanbase, as I have heard in the last two days from many BYU fans. Just a sampling... "They hired him because he's black." "Kyle is practicing...

In fact the thought honestly never crossed my mind and I find it absurd. I'll give you my impressions on this hire. Then provide a little life experience of racial interactions. Many of you may have had the opportunity to listen to Joel Klatt (former CU Q

  • Football: The Double Entendre Coach (Thoughts on the Brian Johnson hire) Dear Geezers panicking about an OC who is in his mid-twenties leading our program's offense against "much more experienced" coaches, citing his youth and inexperience as spelling certain doom to our program. Change your poopy Depends attitude, drink your Fiber One, and calm the freak down - you're going to bust an artery. She was granted a medical redshirt by the NCAA, but not a scholarship to cover her final year's expenses. Adding to Robarts’ appreciation for gymnastics is that she is paying her own way. • Football: Sun Bowl --- Arguably one of the most underrated bowl games out there!! What a game and what an atmosphere they have at the Sun Bowl!! Chalk me up as a fan who nearly didn't make the trip because he thought El Paso was a hole and that the entire Sun Blow experience would suck. I could repeat the sentiments shared by many here already, but suffice it to say they are right --- the folks in El Paso know how to put on a terrific show....

I'm as disappointed as the rest in today's game but as we go throughout this learning curve this year it will benefit us in the long run.
