I have seen a few parts of game on webcasts. A few thoughts
1) I am glad I got to see Washburn best game in person. Not only his scoring eruption was cool his defense keeping Carson from getting to the hoop was key.
2) The amount of brother on brother crime was a lot less than I wanted. I think our Bachynski got the better when brother was guarding brother. ( It was funny to see a family member relive the spin and dunk while they were out there on the court.) He commited a couple of dumb fouls that kept him on the bench so we missed out on more.
3)I would guess that Tommy Conner does most of the instruction during practice if his game behavior is any indication. He was up and down yelling and was down the sideline talking the whole game. I like his enthusiasm. Good hire for Coach Bear.
4) As a former SLCC alum always good to see Norm Parrish. I was the PA announcer a couple of years there and I really like him.
5)Glen Dean and Tucker were standing by the bench after and my son wanted a picture with them. They were very accommodating and thanked us for coming to watch. Shook both our hands. Even waited while I got my new phone camera set to take the photo. Dean even joked my son took a picture with him after Tucker so he could be the taller one in the picture( son is 15 and 6'1). He talked about how cool the players all the way home.
6) Jason Washburn as he walked away from the post game interview stopped and posed with son. Put his arm around him and smiled. Told us to take our time getting the picture and thanked us for coming to the game as well.
My son was wearing his Shaky Smithson given arm band ( Shaky threw it to him after a game in Vegas.) He has had great interaction with guys after games.
I know it was a minute of time for these guys but the minute they spend taking photos or saying hi is 15 minutes talking about it in the car and every time they see them on tv they will remind the rest of the family they met them. I am thankful that the players will do this.
Always a good day to be a Ute!!!
