Jeff Davis sounds like a cool guy! Taken from article covering the season ticket holder event at the football practice facility. Quoted from the Trib:

    by UtahPAC12
    2014-06-13 17:42:07

Jeff Davis of Woods Cross brought his sons, Jacob and Ivan Davis, who are both less than 7 years old. He hoped the experience of meeting players would get his sons more invested in going to games.

"So many people watch the games at home now with HDTV," Davis said. "I want my kids to like going to the stadium. Itís just a cooler experience."

Rewatched the Utah/USU game tonight. Thoughts relavent to this year's team:

    by UtahPAC12
    2014-05-30 01:03:13

    1. In watching the game, I loved Travis Wilson about 30% of the time and wondered what he was doing the other 70% of the time. There's an element or facet to his game missing that just leaves me wanting. Then again, Jordan Wynn has given me trust issues.

    2. I hope to heaven that our O-Line comes together to a degree beyond last year's level of play. They were difficult to watch. Most times, getting destroy-ed.

    3. Give Dres the ball! Slants, sweeps, go routes...I don't care how. He is the most electric player we've had in many years.

    4. Watching K-Scott go down in the 2nd series still causes me pain, not pain to the degree that must be felt by Dallas Cowboy fans year after year, but close. Please kindly ask the MUSS to not include him on any oversized 1st down signs. I'm of the firm belief they jinxed him from the get-go. Please use Marcus Mariota or Brett Hundley as your 1st down play toy.

    5. Prince Andy "Iceman" Philips of Altaland will be a player of lore for years to come. Louie Sakoda thinks Andy will be a big deal.

    6. Nate Orchard belongs in Hogle Zoo...cause he's an animal! You can see raw physicality oozing off this guy on every play. I fear the player I'm going to miss most this year is Trevor Reilly. Nate Orchard is the only hope of making me forget.

    7. Losing Jacoby Hale to injury this year is going to be a bigger loss than most realize. He is our best "burst" LB. He's so quick through the line and able to sniff the right read. Norris, Paul, Williams, Whittingham are really going to have to stay healthy and exceed expectations.

    8. Our secondary makes me as nervous as Mark Cuban is walking on any side of the street. Keith McGill looked more 4th string than 4th round against USU. We need Orphey, Rowe, Blechen, Carter to all play to peak from game 1 to game 12 to give us a chance.

    9. I don't know how to assign the value of our run game vs. the execution of our O-Line. That said, we couldn't find a consistent pulse in establishing a valid threat in the run. Booker, McCormick, Poole...we need to find the solution fast instead of waffling between the 3.

    10. It'll be weird not seeing Brian Johnson prowl the sideline this year. I'm excited for the prospect of progressive change, but that jury will be out for many more months.

Lastly, time to hire a good attorney and start the process to divorce the 3rd to 4th quarter drum debacle. We can sit down and divide the assets and go our separate ways. The drums can keep Crazy Lady and we will keep the ROTC cannon and hope things can remain amicable for the sake of the kids.

Go UTES! I for one am excit-ed for next season.

Next year has the POTENTIAL to be great...with some changes:

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-11-16 20:40:28

Addition and Attrition will be needed to make next year great, but it has the makings to do so:

    ADDITIONS:
    1. QB Depth and a Solid Starter for 12 games
    2. The Return of Kenneth F. Scott
    3. Brian Blechen?
    4. Another year of depth via recruits and development
    5. Could we get an INT every so often?

    ATTRITIONS:
    1. Minor changes in coaching need to be made.
    2. Not having to play WWIU (We Will Injure U) in Provo
    3. Turnovers
    4. Can we stop the RB rotation and find a guy?

Losing Reilly and Palepoi is a bummer. That said, I have loved the development of our LB core. They have been solid and have kept us in games.

In Whitt I still trust. Let's finish strong and get those extras workouts before the bowl game. GO UTES!

    A game of inches...

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-11-16 20:30:57

OSU - Michael Walker closes on the ball in OT, it's over.
UCLA - Driving with Murphy's broken hand, just needed a score
Arizona - So many chances to win
USC - A little more offense...
ASU - Hold them on the last drive
    Oregon - Inches became miles

I'm not holding Whitt completely accountable, he has position coaches and players that just aren't executing their part. Our defense has kept us in and kept us close. To me the major issues have been:

    1. Injuries - Kenneth Scott, Jake Murphy, Westlee Tonga, Brian Blechen - any one or two of those players being healthy may be another win or two that were losses.

    2. OL Play - What a downer. Running game can't run, QB/WR connections don't have time to develop.

    3. Travis Wilson - I have given this guy a pass up to this point, but something just isn't adding up. It makes me anxious to see if he is the guy going forward or if Manning closes the gapp.

    4. WR Play - Inconsistent at best. You have a PAC 12 guy in Dres who disappears for stretches and is NFL caliber at other times. Denham and Fitz are serviceable, but not spectacular.

    5. Coaching - A-Rod, Jay Hill, OL Coach all need to have a performance review with Whitt. Horrible.

    6. Obama - Miley Cyrus was still Hannah Montana when Bush was president. Thanks Obama.

In looking forward, which in state program gets the most players drafted into the NFL this year?

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-11-11 19:20:15

I know Van Noy and Hoffman are locks, who else do they have?

I am confident that Reilly, Palepoi and McGill get a good look. Any one else?

Dose of reality. I know we all say that the next man up has to pick up the rifle and pick up the slack, but we just have too many pieces missing:

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-10-19 23:39:06

Jake Murphy - Takes pressure of the WR on the wings by forcing coverage to the middle.
Westlee Tonga - See above plus the bonus blocking.
Kenneth Scott - A true boundary, possession, sideline, go-get-it receiver.
Jacoby Hale - A LB with speed to cover the boundary and go sideline to sideline.
Brian Blechen - I honestly don't know what he gives us, but I'm sure it's something.
Travis Wilson - He has his bad moments, but compensates with more good than bad.

You tell me you would expect us to be 4-3 with a win over Stanford missing 5 of those 6 for that game.

This game reminded me a little too much of last year, that said, this year as a whole has been nothing like last year. We've made steps in the right direction. No Poppinga victory here, just hope for better days. GO UTES!

I'm going to come out and say it...with a healthy Kenneth Scott, this Utah team is likely 5-0 at this point.

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-10-05 23:57:02

With K-Scott, we beat whom we've beaten. Utah State, Weber and TDS are still wins.

With K-Scott, Travis Wilson may not have thrown 3 INT's against OSU with another ball hawk to bring those down and in.

With K-Scott, we have a possession receiver to bring it in on those needed 3rd and 4th down plays.

That said, with Blechen healthy and playing all season, we are still 3-2. The difference we need is another high level PAC 12 receiver to line up opposite of Dres.

My fellow Ute fans, ask not what a Cougar fan, Cougar player or Cougar journalist has said/done lately...really, what is the point of trying to understand or even wanting to care?

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-09-26 23:25:04

Let's move on. They've said their peace. They've stood on their soapbox. They've successfully PR'd their way out of a bad situation predicated on a series of dumb decisions by someone that I'm sure we would rub shoulders with if he weren't a part of their program.

Let's be UTAH UTES fans! Let's celebrate our dominating string of victories. Let's focus on hosting the #13 team in the country for our annual blackout game.

Let's focus on the fact that we have a QB we can finally stand behind. Let's be grateful for a coach that doesn't feed us drivel but recognizes and acknowledges problems and the need for improvement.

It's time to take a cathartic break from caring what anyone south of Draper does for the next 36 months. We'll all be the better for it.

    GO UTAH UTES!

I'm leaning towards a nice addition to the secondary. Eric Weddle, Robert Johnson, Sean Smith all come to mind.

Things I like about how the season is going:

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-09-16 11:59:21

    1. We have a QB that is showing what I want to see out of a big time QB. He's tough, mobile, resilient, gritty and throws a good ball. Not to forget, he's a great leader and guys get behind him.

    2. We have a good group of wide receivers even without Kenneth Scott. They get open, block down field and play without the DVC attitude.

    3. Whitt may not be a perfect coach, but I admire that he knows it. He doesn't stubbornly stick with a scheme or guy if it isn't working. He's a team first, win first guy.

    4. We are building a program whether we want to admit it or not. This team in the current MWC runs the table. Nobody wants to be the best of the mediocre. We are building up to the new level of competition and getting there step by step. Give it time.

    5. Our fans are great! We cheer together win or lose and never take credit from our opponent. They beat us, time to move on and beat TDS.

    GO UTES!!!

    Ranking the in-state Quarterbacks:

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-09-10 17:43:26

    THROWING:
    1. Wilson
    2. Keeton
    3. My sister
    4. Taysom

    RUNNING:
    1. Taysom
    2. Keeton
    3. Wilson

    INTANGIBLES:
    1. Keeton
    2. Wilson and Taysom

    OVERALL:
    1. Wilson, Keeton or Taysom

I would say they are all pretty even at this point. I would take Wilson or Keeton over Taysom myself. I feel Taysom is a little one dimensional is his offensive capabilities. You can stack the box and make it a lot harder for him to thrive.

    That is all.

TDS neighbor texted me tonight: "I bet you wish you had a QB like Taysom."

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-09-08 00:01:33

    Taysom after 2 games: 22 for 66 (33 percent), 1 TD, 2 INT - 306 yards
    Wilson after 1.5 games: 31 for 47 (66 percent), 5 TD, 0 INT - 566 yards

We actually don't want a quarterback like him. We're good with what we have, thanks.

I am so grateful that we got those Chuckers off of our schedule for the year. I'm even more grateful that we don't play USU next year. Next time we see USU, Chuckie will be playing somewhere else.

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-08-30 08:47:35

I had nothing but "congrats" for all the USU fans as I left the stadium. They played a heck of a game.

That said, I'm proud of my Utes for sticking with it and overcoming a devastating loss in Kenneth Scott. The silver lining: K-Scott and Travis Wilson will finish their playing careers together!

Silver Lining Post Alert: While Blechen being out for this season is far from ideal, with him added to next year's roster, we have a chance to take the South...General Grant style!

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-08-10 12:08:24

With all of the returning talent next year, plus Blechen, we'd be a good contender:

OL: Poutasi, Lutui, Salt, Aiono and Tuigmauga
    QB: All of them
RB: York, Poole, Radley, Langi (?)
    WR: Drew, Allen, McClellon, Scott
    TE: Murphy

DL: Orchard, Whittingham, Fauonuku, Ianu, Tu'ikolovatu, Dimick
LB: Blechen, Fehoko, Filiaga, Masina, Norris
    Corner: Porter, Thomas, Orphey
Safety: Smith, Rowe, Carter, Henderson, Morris-Edwards

    Coach: Whittingham

I'd hate to lose him for this year, more so, I'd love to have him for next year.

Reason's why being a Ute Football fan is awesome!:

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-08-05 12:11:46

    1. Having to choose between Autzen and the Coliseum for a road trip is a great choice to make.

    2. I don't get my season tickets and think "well, only 3 of the 6 are good games."

    3. 6 of our 7 home games are good games, well worth the ticket price.

    4. We have 7 home games.

    5. The energy and enthusiasm from the MUSS and NEZ is worth the cost of a ticket.

    6. Coach Whitt is the type of guy you want to have as the coach of your team. There's not a lot of useless hyperbole. He'll admit when there's a shortfall instead of masking it. I'd run through a wall for that guy.

    7. UteFans.net is filled with great fans, great posts, a fair amount of self deprecating humor and a sense of Ute community.

    8. Red, Black and White are great colors to wear any day of the week, especially on game day.

    9. Rice-Eccles Stadium; what an amazing and beautiful place to catch a game.

    10. GO UTES!!!

Phil Steel Preseason All PAC 12 List:

    OFFENSE:
    4th Team - Kenneth Scott - WR

    DEFENSE:
    2nd Team - Brian Blechen - LB
    3rd Team - Trevor Reilly - DL
    4th Team - Eric Rowe - Safety

    SPECIAL TEAMS:
    4th Team - Tom Hackett - Punter

Here's to hoping this motivates a few people to step it up this season. I would consider this motivation served for:

    Dres Anderson
    Jeremiah Poutasi
    Vyncent Jones
    Junior Salt
    Travis Wilson
Insert Name of Running Back Here
    Jake Murphy
    LT Tuipulotu
    Tenny Palepoi
    Kyle Friggin' Whittingham

GO UTES! Show Phil Steele that he overlooked the wrong team and the wrong players.

What is this SCOREBOARD that this Zoob troll keeps referring to?

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-05-14 23:24:09

    Football? Nope.

Basketball? Narrowly in their own house to what they proudly deem the worst team in the PAC 12.

Number of Professionals in the NFL or NBA? Not even close on either count.

Draft Picks in either the NFL or NBA? I'm sure the Kings are glad they used a top 10 pick on a glorified ball boy. Bogut is starting for a team still in the playoffs and Andre Miller is the only reason the Nuggets didn't get swept in the playoffs. NFL isn't even worth discussing.

Stadium Size? Oh good, you can fit more of your awful fans in your stadium than we can educated, passionate, don't bring their knitting to the game fans.

Education Rankings? Those are as reliable as Bleacher Report.

Obesity? Yep...that's got to be what he's talking about. Congrats USuck! UFat and UWin that contest.

A few things I would love to see occur during the upcoming college football season:

    by UtahPAC12
    2013-04-13 23:36:07

    1. Utah wins at least 8 games with a winning conference record.
    2. The national championship game is played without a team from the SEC
    3. Jake Heaps wins the Heisman. That would be delicious to watch that drama.
    4. USU makes it to a bowl game for the third season in a row, though with a loss to Utah.
    5. After they play each other in Madison, Wisconsin cancels their return trip to Zoobistan based on GA's opinion of their fanbase.
    6. Wisconsin wins the BIG 12 after punking Urban Cuckeye's. Goes on and loses a close game in the Rose Bowl to the PAC 12 representative.
    7. Robert Anae is suspended for 3 games for punching Gordon Monson in the face at a presser. Double win!
    8. RES continues its streak of sold out games and riled up fans!

    Is it August 29th yet?

Best place for NIL/Recruiting updates tomorrow? Twitter, Facebook, NSA, UteFans or Sports Radio?
    (168 days ago, 0 stars)

It only took 3 years. We finally have PAC 12 depth at the OC position.
    (182 days ago, 13 stars)

The STARTERS likely look as follows:
    (189 days ago, 1 stars)

Previously linked article lists Utah as returning 6 starters on each side of the ball
    (189 days ago, 0 stars)

Recruiting; it's fun to follow, but about as accurate as the NBA Draft in regard to outcomes.
    (193 days ago, 2 stars)

Dres didn't whine to the referee after each drop or missed ball like DVC did his senior season. For that, he has my respect. He plays and handles himself the right way.
    (194 days ago, 7 stars)

Silver Lining Alert: That gives us a greater chance of landing the TE from Bingham.
    (207 days ago, 0 stars)

The bigger question is...will Dave C. take over the WR's? Is A-Rod, DE or BJohnson most likely to leave?
    (214 days ago, 1 stars)

    A comparison of "rivals":
    (214 days ago, 0 stars)

Dear Utah Jazz: you aren't doing it right. Try a little less to win a little more.
    (223 days ago, 3 stars)

I hear Wilcox has a VERY high buyout clause with UW that USC is not likely to pay.
    (230 days ago, -1 stars)

I have it on good authority that Sark is coming hard at Sitake for the DC position at USC. It's likely to be $$$ that Utah won't be able to match. Do we replace from within or from outside?

    #6: Sweat Pant Model
    (230 days ago, 1 stars)

I would think that the embarrassment he must feel is payment enough. Give the guy a break.

Congrats to Trevor Reilly and Thomas Hackett! All PAC-12 1st Team Selections!

I'm looking to purchase an Andrew Bogut Utah jersey. Anyone know where I can buy one? Anyone have one they are willing to sell?
    (244 days ago, 0 stars)

I think it's about time for a Milton Vanderslice montage of Travis Wilson highlights.
    (246 days ago, 12 stars)

Time to invest more skin in DE. DE is connected. I propose giving him free reign to hire a WR and OL coach of his choice and let's make a run at this next year in the name of Travis Wilson and Gauis Vaenuku.
    (246 days ago, 5 stars)

Hypothetical...Shulz loses his helmet on a 1st down play, who take the snap on 2nd down?
    (246 days ago, 0 stars)

Next year has the POTENTIAL to be great...with some changes:
    (248 days ago, 5 stars)

    A game of inches...
    (248 days ago, 4 stars)

I can't understand why we don't rotate WR's to give more playmakers a shot. Allen, Hatfield, Norwood all deserve a shot at this point. Only place Dres has been found today is on the back of a milk carton.
    (248 days ago, 0 stars)

In looking forward, which in state program gets the most players drafted into the NFL this year?
    (253 days ago, 0 stars)

Good to see Jacoby Hale back in the lineup.
    (266 days ago, 6 stars)

Lot's of RED at airport this morning. On my way with my 5 brothers, 1 bro-in-law and the old man. Let's GO UTES!

I used to love that song...thanks for nothing losers.
    (272 days ago, 3 stars)

Dose of reality. I know we all say that the next man up has to pick up the rifle and pick up the slack, but we just have too many pieces missing:
    (276 days ago, 3 stars)

Now that we are half way through the season, please post your favorite plays of the season so far with video...please!
    (279 days ago, 0 stars)

Hoping we can get Jacoby Hale back on the field. Haven't seen him play since the 1st quarter of UCLA. It'd be great to see Jacoby and Westlee Tonga back for UA next week. GO UTES!
    (283 days ago, 1 stars)

I hear the School of Engineering is really close on their Flux-Capacitor technology.
    (285 days ago, 1 stars)

Yep. Good catch. All I could remember is that his name is close to Paul Giamatti.
    (288 days ago, 1 stars)

Agreed. You get a lot of pieces back plus another year of experience and recruiting.
    (288 days ago, 2 stars)

I haven't seen anyone mention the loss of Jacoby Hale in the 1st quarter. I saw him hobble out and never return. Any news or update?
    (288 days ago, 0 stars)

I'm going to come out and say it...with a healthy Kenneth Scott, this Utah team is likely 5-0 at this point.
    (290 days ago, 1 stars)

Our obsession with their personal lives is getting creepy. We've played them, we beat them, we won't see them for 3 years...let's move on as much as we say we've moved on.
    (298 days ago, 0 stars)

My fellow Ute fans, ask not what a Cougar fan, Cougar player or Cougar journalist has said/done lately...really, what is the point of trying to understand or even wanting to care?
    (299 days ago, 5 stars)

Updated: NCAA investigating Spencer Hadley allegations. If proven true, BYU would have to vacate all victories he participated in, including, but not exclusive to their last 4 Fall Camp National Championships.
    (302 days ago, 39 stars)

STATE CHAMPS!!! Aggies, Wildcats, Cougars...if only SUU were on the schedule. GO UTES!!!
    (303 days ago, 3 stars)

If you could inject any former Ute player into our line-up tomorrow, their NCAA version (not NFL), who would it be?
    (305 days ago, 0 stars)

Let's get these clowns off our schedule and move onto what they only wish they could have; friends that picked them to belong. They wonder why we relish our PAC 12 membership so much, it's cause it got us away from being closely associated with them
    (306 days ago, 3 stars)

Self Poof! This rivalry isn't fun anymore...it's like an ugly divorce that keeps getting worse.
    (306 days ago, 2 stars)

I found the perfect way to ward off mosquitoes last night. Stand next to a BYU fan, they prefer their thin skins.

Someone give me an update on the TDS game. Is Cody Tradition playing? Did J.D. Spirit drop a punt yet? Is Kyle VanHonor blowing up running backs?
    (325 days ago, 0 stars)

I am so grateful that we got those Chuckers off of our schedule for the year. I'm even more grateful that we don't play USU next year. Next time we see USU, Chuckie will be playing somewhere else.
    (326 days ago, 2 stars)

Work schedule lightened...check! Game day shirt ready...check! "U" Stencil made to spray paint neighbor's lawn after victory...check! Let's make this day great! GO UTES!!!
    (327 days ago, 1 stars)

With both us and the Cheese Zoobs playing in the Coliseum this season, which team do you think will travel better? I think it will be us only cause it's pretty tough to get a team of oxen down I-15.
    (329 days ago, 1 stars)

Travis Wilson is one lucky guy. At least for him this year will be the last time he'll ever have to play TDS.
    (335 days ago, 12 stars)

Poppinga lost all credibility with me today when he admitted in not knowing who the 2nd string QB is for TDS. He thought it was Jason Munns, not Ammon Olsen. The talking heads knew more about the situation than he did. HOMER!
    (335 days ago, 2 stars)

We couldn't effectively throw the ball further than 10 yards at most per attempt. Long passes/catches are like a 3-pointer or slam dunk in basketball. Essentially, we tried to lay up the ball on each down which is a predictable offense to defend.
    (335 days ago, 2 stars)

    RE: How about this?
    (336 days ago, 0 stars)

Remember that team that lost to TDS 6-3? Yep...that was the Angies.

I propose that next week's game be referred to as: The REDemption Game!

Isn't today the day we find out about our Miami transfer and his availability?
    (340 days ago, 0 stars)

Agreed. I would guess on Reilly, Murphy, Scott, Rowe and Orchard.
    (341 days ago, 0 stars)

I can't recall hearing anything; did the team announce this year's captains?
    (341 days ago, 0 stars)

Made the mistake of watching the 1st half of the Utah/USC game from last year...I shouldn't watch games from last year so close the start of this year.

Silver Lining Post Alert: While Blechen being out for this season is far from ideal, with him added to next year's roster, we have a chance to take the South...General Grant style!

Reason's why being a Ute Football fan is awesome!:
    (351 days ago, 21 stars)

My company has seats up there and they are nice. They come with a #1 parking pass, a nice pre-game meal, halftime snacks and cover from the elements. The crowd up there is stodgy at best. They don't cheer, stand or yell. That part, I don't like.
