Couple of other thoughts:

1. If people weren't posting about politics there would be very little posting. If you uncheck the category you'll see just how infrequent Utah sports related posts are this time of year. If that's how you want it, fine, but unchecking the category serves the same purpose as banning political discussions altogether. While I'm sure it's true that some folks may come here and see the political posts and be turned off, a lot of people would not frequent the board much at all if it sat untouched for days on end until somebody finally posts about some unrated basketball transfer we just landed from some obscure junior college.

2. What happened to being able to see who gives blue stars? I thought it was actually a nice tool to be able to gauge whether or not a post I make is legitimately $#!+ty. When posting in politics you'll often get blues from people just because they hate you for your ideologies (those tend to be obvious), but it was nice to know when something I posted got under the skin of somebody who usually doesn't respond. Sometimes it's hard not to be dickish when it comes to politics and religion, and it's good to be aware of when I cross lines so I know to scale back my rhetoric a bit. I'm not always trying to be inflammatory.
