Sorry BYU fans, but Utah had nothing to do with Prop 8.

I'm visiting family in California this weekend and was walking down fisherman's wharf in Monterrey when the maitre'd outside one of the restaurant saw me and my BYU sweatshirt and said, "Ohhh, you're one of those people." He then flashed Utah's double-loser hand sign and said, "54-10! Go Utah!"

The tone he said it with and the way he looked made me think this was much more an anti-BYU action than a pro-Utah action. His appearance and demeanor strongly suggested his motivation was anti-LDS Prop 8 sentiment.

First, I question that flashing a U and giving the score is really any proof that someone is anti-mormon. However, I am going to assume this implied insult was real.

I believe the poster believed the person was gay because he wrote this, "appearance and demeanor strongly suggested his motivation was anti-LDS Prop 8 sentiment." Well the University of Utah had nothing to do with Prop 8. So why do you blame a gay mans Prop. 8 sentiment on the University of Utah?

I hate to break it to you BYU fans but there are a lot of Gay people in California that hate the LDS church and BYU. This HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH!!! It has to do with Prop 8. Just because you find one gay man in San Francisco who is a University of Utah fan does not mean there is some big anti-mormon conspiracy at the U.

You want to look for some hidden cospiracy for Utah fans to hate you because of your religion when it doesn't exist. Get over it.

3UteDad icon NEW: I'm pretty sure these zoobs have a point. Utah fans are mostly anti-LDS. And the reason the stands are full for all our home games is not because we're cheering for the Utes, it's that we are cheering against all the LDS fans of every school we play. (nm)

o NEW: I knew a guy from Wyoming and BYU who wore his boots and hat to class. This was New York City and he was very out of place. He spoke for conservatives and acted like a martyr when challenged. Ironically those who hated him most were other BYU alums.
