NEW: I don't think there's any doubt. You look at the text messages between the equipment managers and they both said as much. Along the lines of, "they're just the way Brady wants them."

NEW: That text conversation was months before, following the Jets game where the refs inflated the balls to 16 psi.

NEW: Also the penalty seems to be egregiously out of line. $1M fine, a First Round draft pick, and 4 game suspension? That seems way out of line, considering what wife beaters and accused murderers receive (Aaron Hernandez excluded). (nm)

NEW: Not really. The punishment the Saints got for 'bountygate' makes it look like the Pats got off easy.

NEW: The Saints were PAYING Defensive players to CAUSE INJURY to opponents. Tom Brady was effectively saying, "Don't let the refs pump up the balls to 16 psi like they did in the Jets game". Those two things aren't even in the same galaxy. (nm)

NEW: Disagree. Both Brady and Hargrove were punished for not cooperating with, and thereby impeding, the investigation. Same thing.

NEW: The players union lobbied Brady very hard to not turn over his cell phone or emails to the NFL. That would have created a slippery slope for all the players. (nm)

NEW: This "cheating" doesn't bother me one bit. Good for Brady giving himself a bit of an advantage by bending a rule. If this was a pitcher in baseball using a substance on the ball, he would be considered crafty, but Brady lets a little air out . . .

NEW: One caveat - the Colts balls maintained the same PSI in the same weather conditions. This was looked into during the investigation. (nm)

NEW: No, they did NOT. The Colts balls were checked after being in the warmer room for 15 minutes, which was enough time for the pressure to rise again. The Patriots balls were checked first and were still cold and damp.

NEW: Again, those texts were from October/November, from after the Jets game, where the refs bumped the ball pressure up to 16 psi (and apparently failed to check the pressure again after adding air) .
