How I became a Ute Fan.

Football Memories:

Button 1988-Utah vs. BYU
This game is still affectionately called "the Rice Bowl" (because it was played at Rice Stadium). Led by All-American quarterback Scott Mitchell, the Utes throttled the Cougars 57-28. --- (from the Deseret News)
Button 1992-Copper Bowl
This was the Utes' first bowl game in 3 decades. It featured an amazing near comeback against the Washington State Cougars. --- (from the Deseret News)
Button 1993-Utah vs. Kansas
The Utes roll into Lawrence and dominate the same team that defeated BYU in the Aloha Bowl the previous year. --- (from the Deseret News Archives)
Button 1993-Utah vs. BYU
This was the Utes first victory over the Cougars since the 1988 game, and the first win in Provo in 21 years! It featured the now famous numbers 34-31. --- (from the Deseret News)
Button 1994-Utah vs. Oregon
Placekick holder Jason Jones scores a TD on a fake field goal, as the Utes defeat the eventual PAC-10 champions 34-16. --- (from the Deseret News Archives)
Button 1994-Utah vs. Colorado State
The Utes, undefeated and ranked at #18 in the nation, traveled to Fort Collins to take on the 12th-ranked and also undefeated Rams of Colorado State. The game was billed as the biggest in WAC history, and the Utes came away with a thrilling 45-31 victory.. --- (from the Deseret News)
Button 1994-Utah vs. BYU
The goalpoasts came down in Salt Lake City as the Utes defeated the Cougars for the 2nd year in a row (ironically by the same score of 34-31). --- (from the Deseret News)
Button 1994-Freedom Bowl
The Utes earn a best-ever 10-2 season by defeating the Arizona Wildcats 16-13. The game featured an amazing 4th down catch by freshman Kevin Dyson for the game-clinching touchdown. --- (from the Deseret News)
Button 1995-Utah vs. Air Force
This game was simply UNBELIEVABLE! Trailing by a score of 7-21 with only 1:11 left in the game, the Utes mounted a furious comeback to win the game 22-21. --- (from Sports Illustrated)
Button 1995-Utah vs. BYU
Can you say - Fuamatu Ma'afala? After this game, the Cougars learn it very well. The Utes and Ma'afala dominate BYU by a score of 34-17. --- (from the Deseret News)
Button 1996-Utah vs. Kansas
The Utes prevail in an exciting 40-point shootout with the 20th-ranked Jayhawks. --- (from the Deseret News Archives)
Button 1997-Utah vs. BYU
In 1996, BYU humiliated Utah 37-17. The next year, Cougar fans claimed the Utes' brief era of competing with them was over. But Darnell Arceneaux led a sprited Ute attack that made the rivalry hot again, and gave the Utes a 20-14 victory. --- (from the Deseret News Archives)

Button 2004-Utah vs. Texas A&M

Billed as the biggest game in Ute history, Utah places a historic 14-game win streak (and undefeated season) on the line against their dreaded rival to the south. Button Utah vs. BYU: 1990 WAC Tournament
This thrilling overtime victory over WAC champion BYU marks the beginning of the Rick Majerus era.
Button 1990-91 Season
The Runnin' Utes go 30-3, making it to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Button 1997 Post-Season
After two last-second tip-in baskets by Keith Van Horn in the WAC Tournament, the Runnin' Utes advance to the "Elite Eight" of the NCAA.

A recap of the U's tribute to the all-time leading scorer at both the University and the WAC.
Button 1997-98 Season
