Greetings brethren,

Just trying to drum up some conversation on the next meeting of our vaunted teams. I'm curious to see how you guys think we'll line up against each other.

Offensively, I must say I have my doubts about Bob Rice's Grandson (dude, I love your filters here!), but I'm not one to take him for granted. Plus you're returning Johnson at RB who ran all over us last year. I was really sorry to see him go out in that game, but you seemed to replace him well. I just hope we have a better answer for him this year. Your OL controls well. Hard to rush the pass on you guys, even if there's not much passing.

Defensively, your reputation is formidable. I'm actually going to cross my fingers and hope our OL can give Fuentes enough time to throw a couple long ones to Kevin Curtis. Your linebackers are outstanding and they really make it hard to control the clock.

On our side of the field, Coach Dennehy's wide-out offense is lots of fun and plenty potent this year. Hopefully it won't take the first game of the year to get things firing on all cylinders this time. Curtis is a potential All-American and he's backed up by several experienced WRs and TEs with Casey Poppinga and Gary Coleman leading the bunch. Doubling Curtis isn't necessarily going to stop the passes. Our RBs are stacked. Remember Roger Fernadez, the little squirt who squeeked out the 70-yard kick return to end last years game? Well, he's changed his name to Robinson, gained 25lbs., and is gunning for the starting position against David Fiefia, Emmett White's back-up. Plus we've got James Samuels coming in from Pasadena JC. Rumor has it he's 6'1", 230lb. and can run a 4.2 40. I only wish Coach would run a few double back offensive plays like you guys have. Anyway, I expect to see high numbers again from our offense. The trick will be stopping the other team...

Defensively, we can only go up. Our D finally has some depth to it this year. A few JC transfers and the usually growth through the ranks should provide the experience and seasoning needed to actually play a full 4 quarters this year. Too many games last year were lost in the last 10 minutes because we just couldn't hold the line any longer. I don't expect any miracles this year. We're still going to have to outscore you guys, but the D should be able to stop one or two more runs and break up a few more passes this time around.

All things considered, I think this will be the best game in this series in a long time. Romney Stadium will be packed, as usual, and both teams are yearning to prove something.

Being the complete homer that I am, I'm going to give the Aggies the edge in a home game and toss out a 31 to 28 victory but, the same as every year, anything can happen. Hopefully, we can pull off a win and keep on pulling them off so that you'll be in good company with a loss to us. Just think of it as a learning experience and use that to roll over Michigan, Indiana, and the MWC. If you lose something to us, the only way to get it back it to beat them.

Come on over and join us at www.UStateAgs.com

Cheers

If that new JC back is as good as advertised (6'1", 230 lbs., and 4.2 40!), and assuming that he can catch the ball pretty well, then your offense should be really formidible in the next couple of years. I've had the opportunity to watch Dennehy (and his predecessors) coach at the University of Montana and that offensive scheme is outstanding. And having a back like this will only make this scheme even better (I hate to think of how to defense against the draws and play action passes that this scheme uses).

Hopefully, your year will be a great one (with the exception of the game against the Utes, of course) - I'd like to see Dennehy succeed.

Go Utes!

This should be an interesting game, IMO...

USU is always a dangerous team, especially the first game of the year, especially in Logan.

Fuentes is a polished and experienced QB, you guys always have good RB talent, and Curtis and the rest of the receivers are good. USU is and always has been at least a solid team, IMO.

The questions marks for Utah for this game will be on offense, so an improved Aggie defense would make this game a good matchup, maybe too close for Ute fans to really enjoy too much.

This season will tell whether Dennehy is your HC in 3 years. He seems to be a solid coach and gets good motivation from his players, but being independent makes that a very tough job.

I'll be in Logan in a month, hopefully with a Ute win in my memory driving south late on a Saturday night.

Wait a minute, … just hold on, … whoa Nellie ….

you can’t just come in here and start talking ... football!

There’s a certain protocol you must follow, especially as a rival.

Rule #1 – you must 1st talk about the horrific treatment you’ve experienced in the past at Rice Eccles. Please don’t leave out graphic details, cussing, cheerleaders baring their mid-drifts or the astonishment & horror of seeing caffeinated drinks openly distributed throughout the crowd.

#2 You must mention that the Utes have never won an outright conference championship at least 12 times.

#3 At some point in your post you must reference the U’s Anti-LDS nature.

#4 You must at least give acknowledge Bob Rice's Grandson’s sucks and he’s only on this team because of nepotism.

Oh wait. My bad. Sorry looks like you fulfilled rule #4.

#5 attendance jokes can be substiuted for rules 3 - 5, because they NEVER get old.

And Finally you must end your post with the following misspelling: “ LOOSERS “.

Then and only then can this post be officially recognized as from a rival.

LOL, ..... Rookie.
