I'm Monica With a Prayer for Ute Football

FOOTBALL: Hi! I'm Monica, with a prayer for Ute football. I'm half Brazilian and half Guyanese. I have blond hair, blue eyes, and great big. . . hopes that Brett will be the guy. But

enough about my erotic fantasies (ES, Lois Lane).
Last season many of us whined about Lance melting under pressure. Monica would like to point out (well, it is cold here) that appearing to have a mature and articulate edge over my guy Ry and Brett in team meetings and in controlled practice situations IS NOT equivalent to "instinctive use of tools" in an intense-pressure game situation.
BTW, how old is "sophomore" Rice? Monica's thinking he absolutely SHOULD be a mature and confident presence. And Elliott is. . . 19??

You poser-posters are way too easy. Weren't most of you screaming for a change when Rice let the clock run out? No, wait. My bad. That was the wizard's fault, that guy up in the booth. Craig VerSteg will not get Monica's vote until she sees him calling passing plays down to Brett Elliott on game day. And finally: Oh, pleeeeze Colorado, were you in a coma last fall or is Bob Rice paying your tuition?

> It's ludicrous to simply want to change a QB coming off an 8 win season unless someone else is clearly better.

GO UTAH! 2002 CONF. CHAMPS! GO HOT SWEATY POUNDING LINEMEN! AND PLEASE GOD LET BRETT AND RYAN USE THOSE AWESOME RECEIVERS THIS COMING SEASON!
Monica misses James, thinks Hack is so hot, and cannot bare to think the quarterback derby could go on through August.

First off, I'm not saying I want Rice to be the starter.....

...Trust me, I was calling for someone else all season. What I'm saying is that I don't want to change QB's just to change QB's.

See you're operating on two assumptions which have yet to be proven.

1) Rice has made absolutely no off-season improvements

2) Elliot is unquestionably a better QB.

The first assumption has already proven to be false, and the 2nd assumption remains to be seen.

Believe me when I say I want to see Brett Elliot under center next year. But I don't want him there just because he's not Lance Rice. I want him there because he's so much better than Rice that the coaches can't justify not starting him.

I'd like Brett to be the starter, but I don't want him given the postion by default like Rice got the position by default last year. I want him to actually BE a better option, not have the potential to be a better option. There's a difference.

Hi! I'm Monica, and Elliott is not simply "unquestionably better," he is

by far the best.
You're assuming that Monica (I hope not because she's blonde) can't watch three quarterbacks and draw distinctions in overall talent.
Many questioned Rice's selection last fall and Monica will not enjoy waching that same dog and pony show again.
Which reminds me, I'm thinking of adding new video clips to my website. Check it out @ Hi!I'm Utah'sMonica.com

I'm with Monica, if Rice (Who can't throw or run) is better than Elliot, then Elliot must suck. I don't think that is the case..........

the hardest part of this QB problem to take is how it ever got to this point. Rice went to the U because of his family, anyone who says different is naive. I have no problem at all with this. I do have a problem with him playing the most important position on the team. Rice was not even recruited by anyone out of high school for QB. He was a decent High School QB and nothing more. Whoever was in charge of recruiting QB's over the last 4 years screwed the pooch to even leave the team in this QB situation. It is immensly obvious Lance does not have the tools. Nothing against Lance, blame his parents for his genetic makeup. All the work in the world will not change his speed or arm strength enough to matter. As for those who say his decision making is good, it is not hard if you just hand the ball off and throw 5 yard passes. His decisions were made for him before the ball was snapped.
