It appears that Manaia Brown hasn't quite yet signed with the Zoo, and, in fact, is giving consideration to the Utes.
Let me point out a few reasons for Manaia Brown to stay in Salt Lake County and be a Ute:
1) Defense - we don't give lip service to the concept, we actually play it.
2) 72 - We don't cough up these kind of numbers, bro. McBride has a long history of playing some physical football.
3) Driving Distance - Home is a lot closer when you're already in Salt Lake County.
4) Luther Elliss - Mac knows talent, and how to get talent to the next level. Keith Embray, Barry Sims, Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala, the Dyson Brothers, Stevonne Smith, blah, blah..... Come join the crowd, and look at the trend. This year it will be Ed Ta'amu & Cliff Russell, for sure, probably others, too.
5) Kyle Whittingham & Gary Anderson - the brains behind the impressive defensive stats. Who's the DC in Provo? For how long?
6) LDS Resources at the U - The U has a massive LDS presence at the U. You can't go to the U and keep your testimony? Ask President Hinckley.
7) Same familiar color - You enjoyed your experience at Nebraska. Why change colors now?
Defense - The shootout offense down south will get you back on the field faster, but who wants to play tired? The Utes' ball control offense gives the "D" more time to get ready to force a 3-and-out on the next defensive series. The stats don't lie...
9) No guaranteed starting position - At BYU you can write your own ticket, choose your position.... they desperately NEED you. At Utah you'll have plenty of company, won't have to try to compensate for deficiencies at other positions, we'll make you look good, but you'll have to work for it, 'cause their is a lot of solid players and competition here, especially future NFL O linemen.
10) Ute football is on the rise - we stumbled and still won 8 games. We've got some headroom to grow into. Down south they pulled off miracle after miracle and expect more from here on out. Who wants to be around that "what happened" attitude if they don't win 12 games every year?
11) We won't embarass you in the eyes of your Nebraska friends with big talk of a BCS lawsuit - We don't talk big, we just quietly get the job done. Ask around - Utah is getting a lot of respect in coaching circles as being a consistently solid program, on the rise.
