Hey I went to the Michigan scrimmage and they had 35000 in attendance. How many did the utes have? Its amazing how much attention big ten football gets. Michigan is hurting like the Utes at Qb. They had a starter (john navarre)last year that won 8 games but he couldnt scramble or read defenses (he would only look at one reciever) he is going against guys who were highly recruited and have tremendous athletic skills. I hope he retains his job this fall for the utes sake. If navarre is qbing Utah can beat that team with the defense they have.
someone who knows about Ann Arbor! I have a question then...

I just booked my flight to DTW for the game in Sept., and now we're looking for a good place to stay. The hotels I've called in Ann Arbor all have "event weekend rates." How far is Detroit from Ann Arbor? I've heard everything from 1/2 hr to 1 1/2 hrs. Is there a hotel in Detroit that you could recommend? Thanks in advance.
Go Utes!!!
BTW, we had a decent turnout at our scrimmage. Obviously nowhere near 35k, but good nonetheless. Hopefully more will come for the last two, and that will carry over to fall practice participation.

Try the Holiday Inn North Campus: (734) 769-9800; everywhere will have event weekend rates-- that's the way it is. You'll have a much better time if you stay in A2 than at the airport-take in the ambience of the place on Friday night before a game- it rocks! I'll be at the Holiday Inn- wearing Blue and Red and looking very confused-- best team wins! Tickets will be available from scalpers all along the ways approaching Michigan Stadium. You'll probably be able to get tickets for sure through the Utah Athletic Dept. (and upgrade for better seats in A2 if you desire. The tickets the Utes will be selling will be lower end zone seats). Go Blue!! Go Utes!!
And a question about tickets...

Are they always sold out for every game and do tickets need to be bought ahead of time? Or is it like at the U where there are always people trying to sell tickets outside the stadium right before the game? What do you think is the best avenue to get tickets through? Thanks for any info.

You should watch buying student tickets although because administration says that they are going to check for student IDs next year. Also a good place to stay is the comfort inn on Carpenter road (pittsfield Township or Ypsilanti.) DONT STAY IN DETROIT! other places like livonia, bellville, chelsea, jackson are not very far but be ready for game day traffic. You can pay to park (generally $10) at the LDS institute which is not a far walk to the stadium. Welcome Ute Fans!
