Here we go again. The Utes have played 5 games
and they are already talking about their big game in November for the conference
championship. BYU's big game usually is September or December. U do this
every year. You play this weak Mac schedule and talk yourself up until
you lose to New Mexico or San Diego State looking ahead at that BYU match
up. Other things you do along the way is talk about how tough your team
is. Your totally run on emotion and nothing else. Your like a high school
team - get ready for that big game at the end of the year against Skyline.
You talk before the season, during the season and even after the season
(when you are at home for Christmas).
The more things change the more they stay the
same. So rather than having history repeat itself here are some helpful
hints for you GRANITE HIGH.
*Before Season Starts:
Shut up, don't talk about your overated linebackers
and compare them to Butkus Award Finalists, Don't talk about your exciting
schedule where your first 3 opponents combined for 5 wins last year, don't
talk about where you stand as opposed to BYU, don't talk about BYU and
don't let your coach live on emotion to the point where your team is limping
into the first game.
*Middle of the season
Just shut up, don't try to convince anybody about
your tough first 5 game schedule - your funs are stupid about the game
of football but not that stupid, don't talk about BYU's schedule or BYU,
don't go on the road singing we are family with your "go to hell glasses
on" - we are not impressed, take every MWC school seriously, and quit making
excuses- if something didn't work fix it and go on - you don't win games
by fluffing the newspaper articles, Don't talk about YOUR BOWL GAME IN
NOVEMBER (you think is rivalry), Yes you may lead the NCAA in some stats,
but so could the Winder 4th Ward pregnant mom's if they played LMU,USU,UNLV,WSU,
and Boise State (oops sorry)
*End of the year:
Shut up about the ref's and how you were 61 points
away from the National Championship, don't blame the kicker, don't say
things like "just wait til next year", don't schedule pattsies for the
following year, don't convince yourself that a 8-3 or 7-4 schedule is a
winning season and something to be proud of, and don't talk about BYU-
because beating them and not winning the conference is a joke. The statistics
are there that if you get up emotionally for games, you will win a few.
Espcially on BYU down years (that argument works for Utah fans when they
say big name schools that BYU wins had down years but it hurts when the
only time they beat BYU is when BYU has a down year.
