The Curse of 20
The Curse of 20 is Baghead's
postulate that the Utes must score more than 20 points by halftime or they
cannot win, despite what the other team has scored by the half.
-
For instance, in a 1996 game with Fresno,
our beloved Utes staked only 19 first half points. In the second half they
came back and held the lead until the final seconds, when Dominick Young
drilled a trey at the buzzer to win it for the 'Dogs. (The now famous scene
where he jumped on Tark in his celebratory frenzy was the result of this).
-
Another example is the January 22, 1998
game vs. Wyoming in which the Cowpokes only managed 18 points in the first
half. The Utes cruised to a win.
