I just wanted to take a minute on a really slow Friday afternoon here at work to give some props to the seniors that will be donning the crimson and white for the last time at the JMHC this weekend.
To Phil Cullen: You've been a great team player for four years. You've put up with a lot with seeing your minutes and your role fluctuate and you could have easily said, "if I'm not starting my senior year then I'll quit and play baseball." But you have kept your head up and found ways to help your team. You have also stepped up your effort on defense. While you're still not the best defender we've seen it's apparant that you're trying very hard. Thanks for four dedicated years.
To Travis Spivey: You're not Andre Miller, but you've improved greatly from the point guard that struggled bringing the ball up the court early last season. You've worked hard and overcame a lot and proven a lot of naysayers wrong by coming in, being a good citizen and player and most of all, earning your degree. Thanks and congratulations.
To Jeff Johnsen: You're not Alex Jensen, but you have tried to be. You've stepped up with some great leadership this year and have provided a lot of intangibles that have made this a better team this year. You have come up big a lot of times when your team needed you. Thanks for four great years.
To Chris Burgess: I'm not really sure what to say here. If this is in fact your last year then it is kind of a shame. Still, you've kept your head up through all of the struggles. You played some great ball when you were healthy and showed a lot of toughness when you weren't. We hope to see you again on the court at some point whether it's this year or next. Thanks, you've been fun to watch. Oh, and you were right, they couldn't stop you.
Let's send these four out with a couple of great wins. Go Utes!!!!!
