Utah Basketball Is . . .

Basketball at the University of Utah - I think it is the "purest" sport around.

• It's team play;
• It's "athletic ability",
• It's "quickness";
• It's a "simple" game;
• It's "algebra in motion";
• It's "touch",
• It's "shooting ability";
• It's a "bouncing" ball;
• It's making the "cut",
• It's setting the "pick";
• It's "seeing the court" and "making the pass":
• It's "smarts";
• It's 'cleaning the glass'
• It's "speed & agility";
• It's "jumping" ability;
• It's "rebounding";
• It's "out-coaching" the other guy;
• It's "one-on-one" ability;
• It's "blocking uot";
• It's seeing the players "believe":
• It's thinking "two - three plays" ahead of the actual flow of the game;
• It's "running" the court;
• It's "out-thinking" your "man";
• It's the sound that a net makes when a ball swishes through it;
• It's seeing players grow in understanding and skill right before your eyes;
• It's making the "big shot";
• It's "getting ready" for the game;
• It's the "Huntman Center"
• It's setting the VCR - then replaying the game;
• It's checking the ratings, the top 25;
• It's waiting until Sunday night to see where we are in the "polls"
• It's rushing to the game and getting the "secret" parking spot;
• It's dressing in Crimson sweater:
• It's the White flay with the Red U waving to "sounds of Utah Man";
• It's speculation on the latest recruit;
• It's winning the big game;
• It's anticipating the respect that many of us feel the UTES deserve;
• It's the agony and pain you feel if the game ends, & the UTES have less-points than the other team.
• It's the National Exposure;
• It's the UNIVERSITY OF UTAH Program:
• The you add to it - the influence, the guidance, the skill, the game-plan of the Master Teacher - the personality of Rick Majerus - then you have UTAH BASKETBALL!
