On Bradley . . . and More

I think Hunsaker destroyed Bradley with his mental games. Anyone who can analyze the talent of the various Ute players will come to the conclusion that Bradley is probably the most gifted offensive player on the team. He should be averaging 15 to 18 a game easily. If you watch the way he had played lately (which is admittedly poorly) he just seems lost in the flow. He is damned for whatever he does. Hunsaker wants him to be aggressive but yanks him when he makes a mistake...no one sets screens yet we rely on him for late shots and last second drives when the clock is running down. The offense should work to help him get good shots. He simply needs some direction because his game isn't suited to typical motion offense. I almost feel sorry that he came to Utah. Dick should have worked more with his talents and implemented those talents into the offense. Utah destroyed Bradley's game this year. I only hope he has the fortitude to come back and fight.

With that said, I would take one Bradley over two Johnson's any day... J & J have been soft ALL year. When all is said and done Britton will have given Utah one solid year (if that) -- he's too stupid to understand that forwards don't bring the ball up the court and dribble all day, and good teams don't draw up separate plays between brothers so they can score. He plays without structure, without intelligence, and without teamwork (which is horrible given his clear potential, i mean he is incredibly quick). He should study Alex.

This team needs a kick in the ass and needs to define roles and play as a T-E-A-M (i am not saying it's Hunsaker's fault -- i think he was solid under the circumstances). Rick is just the man to do it. All of you Ute fans that think this program survives at the level it has been without Rick are foolish. It is ridiculous. I almost wish he would go to UNLV and kick the shit out of this league so those Ute fans who can't see his brilliance would morn daily at his loss. We are truly lucky to have the Honorable at this University in the middle of a atheltic wasteland....

Next year this team will run through the league and get into the NCAA's. Burgess will play better and Jacobsen will emerge as a goto player and we will get great contribution from the Caton's Godfread's and Bradley's of the team. People will say its simply experience -- those that know better will say the maji is back in the house...

Legal,

I totally agree with you about Majerus but I disagree with you on Bradley. He's more at fault here than Hunsaker. In fact, it's amazing that two Ute fans could be seeing the games so differently. While I agree that he's put in difficult situations to make tough shots as the clock runs down, more often than not this year I watched Bradley take shots too early in the offense and set (when he bothered to) some of the weakest screens I've ever seen.

While Utah's motion offense at its best has a couple of guys whose sole role is to screen, everyone must be screening and moving for it to work effectively. Bradley was as clueless as Britton in this area this year. I'm worried they both have .05 cent heads.

Your dribbling comment is hilarious. This is one of Bradley's biggest problems - dribbling too much. It's a problem for many of the players on this team and a problem Rick will remedy next season.

While Bradley may be the most gifted offensive player on this team, he's also the most diminuitive. That means he succeeds only if the floor is spread (so he can drive when appropriate) or if the motion offense is working (players getting good looks because of good screens). As I said earlier, he's as culpable as any Ute in the breakdown of the motion offense.
