Cincy put that final nail in the MWC coffin this year. BYU looked dreadful.
I remember when that aborted Louisville team came in that had beaten Cincy a few weeks earlier. It makes you just wonder how we lost many of the games that we lost.
Southern Utah did a nice job against a BC team that I have seen play much better a number of times. They earned some real respect back here.
Utah State really is a very good team. I would love to see them move on. Ditto on earning respect, people love them back here.
Unlike many of you, I had no burning desire to see BYU get in just because they were from Utah. I actually loved it when they got whacked.
You know that in the 2 years of MWC existance, they have managed to dig a slightly deeper hole each of the 2 years. The whole point should have been to align with schools which have an upside and who collectively would send a message of legitimacy.
What I have seen are 2 amazingly bad football seasons and on ESPN I have gotten to see one substandard performance after another. Not just by the Utes either but from every team. Boring, unexciting and poorly executed games abounded whether in or out of conference.
In basketball it was much the same. The difference being that the basketball teams all had excellent athletes. At the same time, all of these excellent athletes rarely functioned in any excellent manner. At least in national TV games. This is where the image of the league kept plummeting week by week.
The
WAC may have been a dead end but at least it had the Holiday bowl.
In
basketball it was always interesting.
Depressing to see this......but....
Next year we have a chance here at Utah to really do something in both basketball and I am hoping in football with our new staff.
If this league performs as last year, it will be in deep S and deservedly ignored.
I lve the Utes chances though to avoid being splattered.
Go Utes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
