Rick Majerus' Recruiting History

The other night, during one of my frequent bouts with insomnia, I reconstructed a list (posted here some time ago) of all of the Rick Majerus recruting classes at Utah. I had been thinking about some recent (and some not so recent) discussions on this board regarding different aspects of Majerus recruiting and wanted to "break down" the recruiting classes to see "what the numbers said."

I'm not going to comment on any of these arguments in this post, but I was specifically interested in (1) the number of LDS players Majerus has signed (2) the number of African-American players he's signed (3) the number of prop-48's he's signed and (4) the number of signed players that have left the program. Those of you who have been around this board for a while will recall several discussions on these topics.

Anyway, I now present the list for your enjoyment. As I said, I'm not going to use this to make any points (at least not in this post anyway), I just wanted to throw the information out there and see if there was any response.

A few caveats and notes:

I put this list together from memory so I'm sure I've forgotten someone or have someone in the wrong year, etc. Please point out any errors you see so I can correct my list.

The year listed represents all players signed up through the late signing period. In other words, the 1996 list includes everyone who signed in the early period (fall of '95) and the late period (spring of '96).

The "trans" category includes any player that originally signed with Utah but left the program for any reason before completing four years of eligibility. For example that number includes Terry Preston, even though graduated from the U and did not play anywhere else.

The "Utah" category includes any player who played for a Utah high school or junior college at the time he was signed. For example, Ma Jian is a Utah player under this definition (signed while playing at UVSC).

Jon Carlisle was included in the transfer number because the consensus seems to be that he will not return after his mission.

Silas Mills is included in both the 1992 and 1994 recruiting classes because he signed to play at Utah both times.

Drew Hansen is not included in the "LDS" category because he was not a member of the LDS church when he signed.

I wonder if the team would have been any better if Silas Mills and Andre would have been allowed to play in the '94-'95 season?
