Are we really going to be critical of Chris Hill for the current state of Utah Hoops?

    Really?

This sort of reminds me of when Mrs. Vuudoo bitches that I’ve let the yard go for a couple of weekends, meanwhile my knees are scraped, blistered and swollen as I’m busting my ass staying up late, using all my free time installing new flooring in the house. The yard will survive, and I’ll give it extra time when I’m finished.

    Just a few reminders:

    - Kansas/UConn has a basketball first mentality, during the recent musical chairs conference realignment scenarios how often did you hear Kansas or UConn rumored to be going to the ACC, SEC or PAC-12, and then compare that to the basketball reputations of schools like Nebraska and TCU? Hill’s foresight to switch from a hoops first university to a football first one years ago, was absolutely the right call. Both programs will benefit long term because of Hill’s decision. And that probably wasn’t an easy decision for him to come to, since his background was in basketball.

    - Shortly after Larry Scott got the job as PAC-10 Commissioner, Hill had the insight to call him and introduce himself, and begin a dialogue. I think that took some stones to do. Maybe that’s a common practice for A.D.’s, across the country but I haven’t heard of it. Hill said it was the same practice he’d done years ago with the previous PAC-10 admins. I believe that initial meeting helped Utah land that 12th spot. It certainly didn’t hurt. And I haven't heard of reports down South from a specific A.D. who was in the middle of things, but not in the internal area of things mention he had a relationship with Larry Scott.

    - 16 million dollars would have paid for a nice hoops practice facility, or a brand new football facility. Since donors were responsible for about half the money raised for this project, which program do you think they were more excited about supporting?

It’s too easy to criticize Hill. Could he have done a better job with the Hoops program? Clearly Yes!

Could Whitt have done a better job with QB depth this year? Obviously!

These guys aren’t working 40 hour weeks, with two hour lunches, every other Friday off, playing on the internet for hours each day. They are busting their ass every day. They make mistakes. Maybe it’s time we cut them a little slack, ignore some of the problems and celebrate the many positive things that are going on around the university, like running clean programs, with students who go to class and focus on academics. Without Chris Hill we'd likely be gearing up for a football game against New Mexico next Saturday, bitching about our future conference merger with Conference USA.
